This design is of Sir Henry Parkes in a contemplative mood, the issue celebrates the pre-federation speech by Sir Henry at Tenterfield, New South Wales, which paved the way for the international conferences in the 1890's that led to federation.

Sport Definitives
Series 1

This was the first issue in the Sport series, the designs incorporate a number of sport orientated interests, popular in Australia, there were a number of reprints (listed below), also two different perforations, a booklet was also released containing 10 x 39c Fishing stamps in both perforations. 
There have been a number of Sport issues, Series 1, February, 1989 (below); Series 2, Part 1, August, 1989 (seven issues down); the $4.10 Booklet was overprinted AUSTAMP '90 Exhibition, March 1990; Series 2, Part 2, January, 1990; Series 2, Part 3, May, 1990; Series 2, Part 4, August, 1990; Series 2, Part 5, August, 1990; Series 3, August, 1991.   Reprints were, 1c, 1k 1990, 2k 1992; 2c, 2k 1991, 3k 1991, 4k 1993; 3c, 1k 1991, 2k 1995, 3k 1997; 55c, 2k 1990; 70c, 2k 1989, 3k 1991, 4k 1993; $1.10, 2k 1990, 3k 1990, the $1.10 Specimen was issued on 18 November, 1989 (but is listed below).

Sheep in Australia

This issue depicts four Australian breeds of sheep, the release coincided with the World Sheep and Wool Congress held in Launceston, Tasmania from 27 February to 6 March, the $1 Specimen was issued on 18 November, 1989 (but is listed below).

This issue was released to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first theatrical performance in Australia, the designs feature both on screen & off screen personalities of Australian Stage & Screen, the 39c stamp was issued with two different perforations, both the $1.00 & $1.10 stamps had SPECIMEN stamps issued on 18 November, 1989 (but they are listed below).

Australian Fauna - Frilled Neck Lizard
Vending Machine Issue

The Frama machines have been installed in a number of locations throughout Australia, Sydney (2000), Canberra (2601), Melbourne (3000), Brisbane (4000), Adelaide (5000), Darwin (0800), Perth (6000), Hobart (7000) & Other Offices (no Postcode) values from 1c to $20.00 were able to be produced, this design, the fifth in the Australian fauna series, is the Frilled Neck Lizard, a Specimen stamp was also issued with the value of $1.10.

This issue was released in conjunction with the National Philatelic Exhibition Stampshow '89, held in Melbourne from the 11 October, a Melbourne Cable Tram was it's Logo, a booklet was also released containing 10 x 41c (982-1-1, below) stamps, the cost was $8, this included travel & entry into the Stampshow, I do not have a scan of this booklet.

This Christmas issue has three different perforation combinations, 13.85 x 13.33 for the 36c stamp, 13.85 x 13.33/Imperforate for the 36c booklet stamp & 14.6 x 14.4 for both the 41c & 80c stamps, the designs show illuminated manuscripts of scenes of the Annunciation. the 36c, Annunciation; 41c, Annunciation to the Shepherds; 80c Adoration of the Magi, the booklet was also overprinted twice on 1 November, 1989, one for the Sydney Stampshow, the other for the World Stamp Expo, Washington (at this time I do not have a scan of either).
